Pinot Noir is arguably the most revered grape variety in the world with origins in Burgundy, France where the best expressions can still be found. Pinot Noir is not only a tough grape to grow, it also shows miniscule differences in terroir arguably more than any other grape variety. Stylistically, it is generally higher in acid and lower in tannin but can vary depending on the location, and winemaking technique. It is very versatile with food, and shows a range of flavor from red and black fruit, floral, spice, earth, and mineral qualities.

Jules Taylor

Marlborough

Marlborough native Jules Taylor began making her own wine in 2001 with a limited release of 200 cases while maintaining her role as a consulting winemaker to one of the region’s larger brands before leaving five years later to dedicate herself entirely to her winery.

Jules Taylor works with a network of family-run grape growers to source some of the best fruit in the region. Protected by mountains and cooled by ocean breezes, Marlborough’s well-drained vineyards are planted on sandy loam and gravel soils and benefit from broad daily temperature swings, allowing grapes to ripen fully while maintaining good acidity.

Jules Taylor produces fresh, lively wines that highlight the region’s unique terroir. Her pinot noir is richly perfumed, fruit-driven yet structured, and offers an excellent value.
